A Day In Sullivan’s Island

Sullivan's Island, Charleston

Greetings from Charleston! I can’t wait to give you all the details of this beautiful city – but before I do that, I thought I would check in and tell you what we did on July 4th!  We went to see some fireworks at night by the waterfront area in the city but decided to spend most of the day out in Sullivan’s Island, which was a perfect plan because I had no idea how hot it really gets here ( rookie mistake – I mean we are in the south….duh! lol) – I’m talking extremely high humidity,  the kind where you seriously think you will melt!! So, yes, if you come to Charleston, the beach is a must! Here is a short guide of how to plan your day:

A DAY IN SULLIVAN’S ISLAND

How to get there:

If you did not rent a car, take an Uber – it’s about a 20/25 minute ride from downtown Charleston and will only cost you $20. Tell the Uber driver to drop you off at Station 19 ( those are the street names ) – the further down you go, the better…less people.

What to bring:

Bring the usual….bathing-suit, towels, umbrella, sunscreen, etc. As for food, you can bring your lunch or walk to one of the restaurants that are just a few blocks off the beach to grab a bite. For lunch we suggest you bring something because otherwise you will lose your spot at the beach.  Before heading over to the beach, we walked over to Caviar and Bananas and grabbed duck confit sandwiches (so yummy), snacks and bottles of water – we then had the UBER pick us up from there and went straight to the beach.  For dinner make reservations at Obstinate Daughters – it was delicious.  This is one of the top places to eat and it didn’t disappoint –(we recommend you order the Grilled Octopus and the Brussel Sprouts and the dairy free clam pizza).  After dinner, you can go right downstairs and grab a yummy gelato from Beard Cats Sweet Shop then head back to the city!
