So excited to finally share photos and tips from our anniversary trip to Turks and Caicos! It was only a month ago but it feels like it was ages ago (that’s how much we miss it!!) Thomas and I have travel a bit and have fallen in love with many places for different reasons but Turks and Caicos was amazing and probably one of our favorite vacations. We haven’t been everywhere in the caribbean but we’re almost certain that this island is the gem of all the islands. The water was insanely beautiful and we went during the low season so for the most part we had the beach and hotel to ourselves. Our daily itinerary included sunbathing, eating, napping and evening walks on the beach-ugh how I miss it all. Here is a detailed write up of all the places we went to!
EAT:
Grace’s Cottage: We had dinner here on our first night since it was inside our hotel. The ambiance was romantic and the food was great-a must if you’re looking for a warm and cozy fine dining experience.
Coco Bistro: Umm this was highly recommended and the reviews are nothing but great so we were really excited to go here. It didn’t disappoint-the place was swanky and the food was delicious! Make reservations a couple of weeks in advance because it was definitely one of the most packed spots (even during low season).
Bay Bistro: This was in walking distance from our hotel (about a 30 min walk on the beach) and although it was pretty empty since it wasn’t their busy season, we loved it. What I remember the most was loving my lobster dish and the waitress (she was from the Dominican Republic so we bonded haha).
Da Conch Shack: Another super chill and local favorite spot that I would HIGHLY recommend! It’s a bit out of the way but easily accessible by taxi and if you want to switch up the vibe and hang with locals this is your spot. Grab one of the picnic tables (that are painted in pink! This place is so instragammable!) and order the conch fritters, which is what they are known for, and a rum punch.
Seven: Located inside the Seven Stars Resort this restaurant is fine dining and the food and service were excellent.
Infiniti Restaurant and Raw Bar: Probably the most beautiful waterfront space from any of the restaurants we visited. The decor is elegant, modern and chic-I loved it!! There service is top notch-grab a table closest to the sand and enjoy a fabulous meal with a bottle of Rose (they have an extensive list of cocktails and wine bottles). For those just interested in having drinks-sit at the Infiniti Bar...so sexy and fab!
Somewhere Cafe and Lounge: Out of all the places we went to this was probably our least favorite. We decided that it would be fun to walk there since it was on the beach and only 45min away but it was the middle of the day and we were roasting-not the brightest idea…but what made the walk bearable was the dips in the water we would take on our way there and back. So the ambiance is cool but the food nothing special. We had the tacos and guacamole and we felt as if the gaucamole was store bought…no bueno. Maybe it would be better for dinner but for lunch nothing to rave about.
STAY:
Point Grace Hotel: This is where we stayed and we couldn’t have been happier to find this little gem of a hotel. It’s smaller compared to the other resorts on Grace Bay but that made it all that much better. The property holds 28 apartment style one to three bedroom suites with full size living room, kitchen and deck. The staff was lovely and service was superb (I was really getting use to the sundown services every evening). The perks of staying at a smaller property is the individual attention that you are getting that makes you feel at home in such a short period of time. Also, Point Grace sits on the most secluded beach strip since the bigger hotels are not as close to it. Amazing!!
Seven Stars Resort: This resort is massive and sits right on Grace Bay beach. It was walking distance from our hotel and because of all the amenities that it offers this is probably where we would stay if we had kids. It’s not a family resort like others we saw (some of hotels where way too family friendly-think disneyland on Grace Bay beach LOL) but great for singles and families looking for a more luxe experience.
Amanyara: If you are going to splurge then this is where you need to go (rooms go for $700 and more a night). We wanted to at the very least do dinner and drinks here but getting there from our hotel by taxi would have cost $200 one way so that plan quickly didn’t work out for us. The property is suppose to be amazing-perfect for those celebrating a honeymoon or a big anniversary.
DO:
Sailing Excursions: This is our signature thing to do when we travel to the islands or anywhere with a body of water. Nothing better than having a glass of wine (in this case rum punch!) and sailing on beautiful waters with my beloved.
Snorkeling and Scuba Diving: This is the THING to do here since the water is so clear and their is an abundance of marine life. We didn’t do it because we are a bit scared of deep water sports since we don’t know how to swim ( yeah, judge us..we deserve it. lol).
Banana Boat: For those seeking a thrilling adventure with a group-the banana boat looks like fun!!
IF NOTHING ELSE, DO THIS:
Sunbathe all day on Grace Bay. It has been listed as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world….so you get my point!?
