It’s time to buy summer hats! I must admit I already have few at home and every year I say I won’t buy more but I still do. 🙂 Don’t get me wrong, if I didn’t live in a NYC apartment I wouldn’t feel guilty but since my closet is the size of a tuna can, I really have no room. Today, I am showing you my favorite hats: the boater and the straw sun hat. For my folks who live in cities, the boater hat can truly be worn everywhere and during the colder months, this is why I love it so much. I’ve been totally obsessed with the boater hats from Lack of Color (my pink one in the picture above is from there) – they are super fashionable yet classic and like I said you don’t have to wait to go on vacation to where them. Did you know boater hats were worn typically by men as part of their formal wear during the 19th/20th century? Since I love to add a vintage classic twist to my outfits, the boater hat is the perfect accessory give me that look.
However, the straw sun hat is more of a beach hat for me….the wide brim and light weight feel makes it perfect to keep your face safe from too much sun. I also feel like it gives a more glamorous look to any beach outfit! Wear a black bathing suit, a straw wide brim hat and big sunglasses and tadaaaa – all of a sudden you feel like Jackie O. hahaha – or so I like to think! lol!
Which style do you like best? Are you a straw sun hat or a boater gal?
