Finding Your Purpose

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions”  – Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

Hi, friends,

Today, I’m taking a break from the travel guides to writing you a note about the future of the site.  In the last few months, I know a few of you have noticed me focusing more on travel and there is a reason for that.  When I started this blog 3 years ago I had plans to focus on philanthropic initiatives and conscious businesses because I had just finished a Master’s degree in International Affairs and part of me wanted to continue finding ways I could utilize my degree through the blog.  But as the years went by I felt like something was missing and it was always so obvious to others that what I really loved was traveling.  You might think, well, who doesn’t love to travel? Duh! Haha.  But it’s a little deeper than that for me.  My eyes and energy sparkle a certain way anytime anyone mentions they are traveling somewhere and it’s instinctual for me to immediately want to give you a million and one places to try.  And picking up travel publications is second nature to me – Conde Nast Traveller and the New York Time Travel section are weekly readings for me… So, I started connecting the dots of certain events that happened in my life around travel and found that my soul was happiest when I was traveling and connecting with others from lands far away.  At the age of 34, I’m realizing that this is what I was meant to do all along – that my life’s purpose was unfolding before my eyes.  It’s no coincidence that I majored in Cultural Anthropology/Women Studies in Undergrad and that during my Freshman year I went on a two-week hiking trip to Alaska with a small group of people I had never met, then volunteered in Uganda for 4 weeks during my Junior year, and finally pursued a Master’s in International Affairs that led me to travel to Bosnia, Serbia and the Hague.  Those experiences have left memories within me that I will never forget – experiences that helped me grow into the woman I am today. In life there are no coincidences ( okay, maybe a few lol ) – life works in mysterious ways and will always remind you of what your life purpose is. Our job is to follow our intuition and live a purposeful life by choosing to honor the reason we were meant to be in this world.

So what is my purpose with Plsdotell? The purpose is for this site to be a travel inspiration for those who crave a genuine connection to places and people around the world. This doesn’t mean I won’t post about conscious businesses if I find a brand I love but it does mean that my focus will shift to providing you with travel guides that will provide you with the best information to help make your travels as amazing as they should be, connecting you to travel stories from locals around the world and helping you immerse in cultures through food and the people I meet in this journey.

Thank you for following along – each of you has a huge impact on the success of Pldotell – I truly couldn’t do this without your support. xoxo

Pay attention to the things you are naturally drawn to. They are often connected to your path, passion, and purpose in life. Have the courage to follow them. (Quote by Ruben Chavez) —> keep on being courageous and always follow your heart- it is molding you- embrace it. Good Luck and you got this! Can’t wait to keep reading about your travels!
