Fourth Of July Traditions

If you’ve been following the site for a few years, you already know that Thomas and I do a trip to an American town every year to celebrate the fourth of July. We started this tradition three years ago because we had a desire to travel more in the United States. Our travels are mostly abroad and we often forget how beautiful the country we live in is. So we thought of traveling during America’s biggest celebration would be fitting! This year we are heading to a town close to Chicago and I look forward to sharing all the details! Below are the last three cities we visited in past three years.

Charleston, South Carolina

What we loved:

Charleston is one of the most charming and beautiful cities in the US. It was one of our favorite trips of all time – if you love old mansions, great food, beautiful gardens than you must visit this great American city. Click here for the full travel guide of where to stay, eat and do!

Cooperstown, New York

What we loved:

We loved how close this was to NYC – only a four-hour drive! We found an Airbnb right on the lake and had the best seats for the fireworks at night.  This quaint town is the perfect getaway for couples and families – it has tons of eateries facing the lake, water sports, and host to the infamous brewery Ommegang.

Manchester, Vermont

What we loved:

We went here a few years ago before Please, Do Tell so I never shared a guide! Manchester is a short driving distance from NYC  and what made this trip special was our stay at The Equinox, a Luxury Collection Golf Resort & Spa.

The hotel is in the perfect location with tons to do. We did day hikes, shopped the outlet stores that were literally walking distance from the hotel and ate great food in the area. We never had to venture too far from the property so it was really relaxing and stress -free!
